素食主义协会的成立与发展

Although the vegan diet was defined early on in The Vegan Society's beginnings in 1944, it was as late as 1949 before Leslie J Cross pointed out that the society lacked a definition of veganism. He suggested “[t]he principle of the emancipation of animals from exploitation by man”. This is later clarified as “to seek an end to the use of animals by man for food, commodities, work, hunting, vivisection, and by all other uses involving exploitation of animal life by man”.

The society was first registered as a charity in August 1964 but its assets were later transferred to a new charity when it also became a limited company in December 1979. The definition of veganism and the charitable objects of the society were amended and refined over the years. By winter 1988 this definition was in use - although the phrasing has changed slightly over the years - and remains so today:

"A philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

Our founders created and defined the word ‘vegan’ in 1944, and since 1990 we have been helping businesses demonstrate that their products meet this definition with our Vegan Trademark. 三.Criteria

In 1944 The Vegan Society created the word 'vegan' - our Trademark is the authentic international vegan standard. Today, products must pass the following criteria to be eligible for registration. A dedicated and experienced team check each individual product application against the criteria, and query any potential inclusion of animal ingredients, including those not present in the final product. Working with manufacturers, audits for products at high-risk of cross contamination with animal ingredients are carried out to give vegan consumers further reassurance. We renew the registration of each product annually to ensure information is accurate and up to date.

3.1.Animals

The Vegan Society understands the word ‘animal’ to refer to the entire animal kingdom, that is all vertebrates and all multicellular invertebrates. The word may be used either as a noun or an adjective and to refer to either a species or an individual animal, depending on context. Unless otherwise stated, it usually means non-human animals.

素食协会将动物这个词理解为整个动物王国，即所有的脊椎动物和所有的多细胞无脊椎动物。这个词可以作为名词或形容词使用，也可以指一个物种或一个动物个体，这取决于语境。除非另有说明，它通常指非人类的动物。

3.2.Animal ingredients

The manufacture and/or development of the product, and where applicable its ingredients, must not involve, or have involved, the use of any animal product, by-product or derivative.

3.3.Animal testing

The development and/or manufacture of the product, and where applicable its ingredients, must not involve, or have involved, testing of any sort on animals conducted at the initiative of the company or on its behalf, or by parties over whom the company has effective control.

3.4.Genetically Modified Organisms

The development and/or production of genetically modified organisms (GMO) must not have involved animal genes or animal-derived substances. Products put forward for registration which contain or may contain any GMOs must be labelled as such.

3.5.Kitchen and hygiene standards

Dishes that are to be labelled vegan must be prepared separately from non-vegan dishes. As a minimum surfaces and utensils must be thoroughly washed prior to being used for vegan cooking. We strongly recommend that a separate set of utensils be procured for this purpose. Be aware of the risk of cross-contamination from non-vegan sources in your kitchen, and take all reasonable practical steps to eliminate this.

五.关于Vegan申请资料，请准备以下：

1.请填写Vegan申请表，公司名字需要填写注册的英文信息，如果没有的话，请用拼音翻译；

2.请将申请表最后一页盖章签字；

3.请提供公司的营业执照；

4.请提供产品包装。

六.Vegan Trademark英国Vegan申请流程

1. 确认意向，填写申请资料

2. 机构审核资料

3. 资料审核通过，出具合同发票

4. 回签合同

5. 验厂（取决于产品的风险级别，风险级别高需要验厂，风险级别低，则无需验厂）

6. 验厂通过

7. 领取证书

七.Vegan Trademark英国Vegan申请周期

认证周期：一般30-60个工作日

证书有效期：一年/两年

证书有效性：全球通用

八.验厂主要检查什么：

1.申请书上的原材料与仓库中的原料是否一致；

2.考察设备状况，要求设备干净。

3.若有其他用于生产非vegan产品的配料，要求其与vegan产品不得相互污染。

4.产品及原料不进行任何的动物测试。
